What does a regenerative transition look like?
Regeneration asks us to reform our relationship to power, desire, and community.
It looks different for everybody, but it invites us to look realistically at our position in the world, to come to terms with our fears and anxieties about the future, and to develop the skills to help in challenging times.
These may involve gardens, or transportation, or solar, or rebuilding local community... They may be urban, or rural, or reforming the suburbs. The polycrisis demands polysolutions.
Let's be clear: The future is on the line.
Reductionism, optimization, and pursuit of profit have pushed the planet beyond its stable boundaries in almost all living systems.
We need to envision and pursue new goals.
The complex systems we inhabit require each of us to develop an openness to feedback and willingness to listen. And we must grow our skills in courage, communication, and intellectual humility.
I’m here to help you do your part.
“I arise in the morning torn between a desire to improve (or save) the world and a desire to enjoy (or savor) the world. This makes it hard to plan the day.” ― E.B. White
It's hard to change the world when we are trapped in structures of anxiety and fear. My foundational materials are designed to help support you in finding a way to bring savouring and saving into alignment.
Because we care for what we love. Including ourselves.
When you find yourself carrying the weight of the world, the leap all the way to joy is daunting.
The intensity can be overwhelming, especially if you feel like you are betraying something by experiencing it. But we can learn to stay with joy by practicing with more subtle sensations, working our way up.
Sounds so easy, right? But it turns out that it can be challenging to hold a seated position for the duration of your meditation.
In this short workshop, I help you find that "comfortable seated position" (on either a cushion or a chair) and then give you tools to gather your mind into the same space.
Say what you want... And Mean It.
What if you could ask for what you want directly, with confidence, and without the anxiety that comes with the fear of rejection?
Speaking of Desire helps you clarify what you really are after, and gives you the tools to ask with more courage.
A Contemplation on the Blessings of the Season
Joy in the Dark is a 12-day "in-your-life" writing program designed to help you remember the blessings embedded in what can be a challenging time of year.
Axial tilt is the reason for the season... but it's not like that means that everything that we do to mark the solstice and the turning of the year has no deeper meaning. We are still, at root, animals who live with a biological rhythm, and the rituals for marking the turning of the seasons contain wisdom for us.
